The number one thing you need to be a great leader is quality relationships. You need a quality relationship with yourself then with others.

A Quality Relationship With Yourself

You need to know what your values are when you know your values you Can have a life that works with you To create your best self and your best life. When you have created that life where you are coming from your core values, you will know what’s important to you and the direction you need to go on your journey. When you have the awareness of who you are. You will know your strengths and weaknesses and to be able to break through any limitations you may have had. The first step to leadership is leading yourself. You have to take the responsibility of where you are and where you want to go is on you. Ask yourself what is important to me? What do I want out of my life? What are my strengths? Where can I get better? How do I feel about who I am? When you answer these questions for yourself you will have a better idea of who you are and who you want to become. You can lead from a place of clarity and focus to reach your goals.

A Quality Relationship With Others

When you know the values of the people you are leading you will be able to meet them where they are to take them where they want to go. When you know someone’s values you can create a deeper connection with them and gain a better insight into where they are coming from. When you know where someone else is coming from and what they need to succeed in their life you can position them to reach that success while they help the team reach its success. Being able to understand someone else’s perspective on situations and working with them from their perspective will let them know you care about their ideas and will create trust with them that you care about who they are. After you have taken the time to understand their perspective, ask them what is important to them about this situation so you can get clear on how to help them achieve their success. Let’s say for example you have three different employees and you ask them what’s important to them about their job? Employee 1 says making money, employee 2 says security and benefits, employee 3 says having an enjoyable work environment with a strong community. These are 3 different types of values where you can now work with each one individually to have success and in return, if they are happy and succeeding at work the company is going to succeed in return.
